Here we have something that you don't see everyday...
Next in our Dream Build Series is something quite special. A straight pull action nestled into one of our E-Tac carbon fibre stocks. Some may think of rifle such as the Blaser R8 when the term "straight pull" is used but that is not what is in question here!
Austrian company HMS Strasser, who are known for their RS14 models, came up with something rather clever and unique - a straight pull rifle based on the Remington 700 footprint. In their words, the "Rebirth of a Legend".
Whilst in the past we have not been the biggest fans of straight pull actions, we must admit that we do admire the concept behind the RS700. From the moment we picked it up, it is easy & quick to use. Of course what we like most about it is that it is based on the Rem 700 platform meaning that it is compatible with many of the Rem 700 aftermarket accessories - stocks, bottom metals, magazines etc.
The RS700 is available from Strasser in a few different chamberings, barrel lengths and profiles. The action is available in right or left hand and in a variety of stock options. They are AICS mag system compatible meaning you have a huge choice when it comes to which magazine you'd prefer to use.
In terms of the build seen here, spec is as follows:
Initial accuracy tests with this build have yielded some great results and we are confident that the rifle will perform well for longer range shooting and will make for a very capable hunting tool!
